Winnie-the-Pooh ... Winnie-the-Pooh (also known as Edward Bear, Pooh Bear or simply Pooh) is a fictional anthropomorphic teddy bear created by the English author A. A. Milne and the English illustrator E. H. Shepard. Winnie-the-Pooh first appeared by name in a children's story commissioned by London's Evening News for Christmas Eve 1925. Winnie the Pooh is a kind and friendly bear of very little brain who lives in the enchanted forest known as the Hundred Acre Wood, in a treehouse under the name Sanders. He is stout and round and generally slow and sluggish. A typical morning for Pooh begins with stoutness exercise, followed by a smackerel or two of honey, which often leads to his seam ripping.
